Using Prompt It
Prompt It is designed to be used directly from your browser’s right-click menu.
To use it:
- Select text on a web page
- Right-click the selection
- Choose a Prompt It action from the context menu
The selected text will be processed and the result will be shown to you.
Promptlets
Prompt It uses promptlets — small, focused prompts designed for specific tasks.
Examples include:
- rewriting or rephrasing text
- summarising content
- translating text
- transforming tone or format
Promptlets are intentionally simple and task-focused.
Viewing Results
When you run a promptlet:
- the AI response is returned immediately
- results are displayed without leaving the page
- no chat history or conversation is stored
Each action is independent.

Why do I need an API key?
Prompt It uses OpenAI’s API to generate responses. You provide your own API key so you remain in control of usage and costs. -
Where is my API key stored?
Your API key is stored locally in your browser and is used only to make direct requests to OpenAI. -
Does Prompt It track usage or browsing history?
No. Prompt It does not collect analytics, prompts, responses, or browsing data.
